Dang, I hate it when people are smoking outside my window in the summer. No more fresh air for me. Here I've got Gollum (from The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit) courteously expressing my feelings. 86 hours in Photoshop. Click below for my process.
This was an assignment I had from the Magic Box where the purpose of our piece was to tell a story where trees played a significant role. Lots of my friends from the Magic Box provided helpful suggestions. Thanks everyone!
Matt, you've done it again! I love everything about this piece! I love the subject matter, the clever title, and of course the artwork! You should submit this to the anti smoking campaign.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian! You're the first person who has commented on the title. The title was actually the spark of inspiration that got me giggling and made me want to do this painting in the first place. I'm a sucker for word play jokes.
DeleteBless my bark! This painting is the precious. Seriously, impressive image Matt, I love it!
ReplyDeleteKevin, you put a big 'ol smile on my face. Thanks for the encouragement you give me. When I get in a funk sometimes and I feel like quitting in the middle of a painting, looking at your art helps me keep going. Also, I studied your Headless Horseman, Scarecrow, Rapunzel, and Grave Digger pics to help me figure out how I wanted to stylize my trees for this piece. Thanks for the inspiration!
DeleteMatt, your work inspires us!! We have been following you for almost 10 years, and we have NEVER been disappointed!! May I write your biography one day??
ReplyDeleteHi Brother Stephenson! Your comment made me smile so big. Thanks so much. It's so much better to be an artist when you know people are looking at the efforts we put in and enjoying them. I'm sure grateful for the talents I've been given. I miss you guys. Hope all is well and hope we get to see you sometime soon if y'all still live close by:)
