It seems like every time I go to a car shop, they want to charge me an arm and a leg for some of the most ridiculous things. If I were an insect, I suppose I would have an extra arm and leg to spare.
Today, I smashed a shark into a spider becase they both scare the trash out of me and I've never seen one illustrated. I felt like one of those writers you see in the movies who sits at their desk, writes something, throws it away, writes something else, throws it away,etc. I drew at least 30 versions of this guy before getting him to where I was happy with him. OY!
Here is a shot at emulating the style of Jim Lee, an incredible DC comics artist. Something about Egypt fascinates me. This is my version of Anubis, the god of the underworld.
This was a style emulation assignment of one of our favorite illustrators. I chose Nicolas Marlett, the artist who did most of the design work on Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.
